Laura Rogerson

Mortgage and protection advisor Laura Rogerson has worked for The Cumberland in Penrith for 17 years and still loves the buzz of helping people buy their dream home.

What do you love most about your role?

First-time buyers are my favourite, they are always excited about buying their first home. Our customers are from all walks of life and people are grateful for our help and advice.

Does local knowledge help you do your job?

Yes, I have a lot of knowledge of Penrith as I’ve lived here all my life. I know the surrounding villages and towns like Appleby well too. I’m also able to tell purchasers about transport, schools, shops and how good or poor a particular area is for re-saleability, which is a huge bonus to them.

How would you describe the local housing market?

It is in short supply at the minute. There are a lot of new homes going up, some of which are affordable homes, and, unlike many lenders, we support them. Prices haven’t dropped at all in Penrith and most properties get snapped up very quickly.

How would you describe Penrith?

It’s a great, friendly and safe place to live. There’s a good range of shops, excellent transport links and it’s impossible to walk up the street and not say hello to someone you know.
