  • Why remortgage?

    There are a number of reasons why you should consider remortgaging:

    Save money on your mortgage payments

    If you’re paying your lender’s standard mortgage rate (SVR) and you’ve still got a few years left on your mortgage you could save money by reducing your monthly payments.

    Get a better deal

    If it’s been a few years since you took your mortgage out, it’s possible your property has increased in value while you’ve been paying your mortgage off. If you have a small mortgage and a property that’s worth a little more you may be able to get a better mortgage deal.

  • What fees will I have to pay when remortgaging?

    All our remortgage deals come with a free standard valuation and, if you use one of our nominated solicitors, free standard legal fees.

    When you take out a mortgage, there may be a fee to pay to cover the cost of arranging your new deal. However, with some of our products, you could pay nothing to switch your mortgage to us. This applies to selected 2 year variable rate remortgage products up to a maximum loan to value of 90%. Excludes Buy to Let remortgage products.

  • My income / circumstances have changed since my last mortgage. How will this affect me?

    There are lots of reasons why your circumstances may have changed, including work, relationships or children. Whatever your situation, the best thing to do is speak to us and we'll look at all the options available to you. Call 01228 403141 or book an appointment online.

  • What information / documents do I need to remortgage?

    We’ll ask you about the property, your income and expenses and dependants. If you’re applying for a joint mortgage, we’ll need to know the same details about the other person who is applying with you.

    We'll need:

    • Proof of ID
    • Last two payslips
    • Last three months bank statements
    • Last P60

    If you're already a Cumberland mortgage customer, you won't need to resubmit paperwork, such as evidence of income, unless your circumstances have changed.
