Supporting local school children - Cumbria School Games

Every year we support a wide variety of activities that provide opportunities for children that benefit their wellbeing, so we are proud to once again be supporting Active Cumbria’s School Games this year.

We’ve a long history of supporting this event, which is always a fantastic occasion, providing an opportunity for Cumbrian school children to take part in a friendly but competitive day of sport.

It’s brilliant to see the array of talent coming from youngsters across the County and the level of enthusiasm for sport. However, the initiative isn’t all about sport. It also provides alternative opportunities for those young people currently not engaged in competitive sport to get involved in a variety of different ways.

This year, children from across the county were encouraged to design a ‘Healthy Cumberland Sausage’. Entrants were challenged to consider nutrition as part of physical activity and lifestyle, with the aim of encouraging them to consider healthy ingredients tying in the culture and heritage of food.

Inside the workplace, the games have also inspired our team to get a bit more active, with people across the business getting involved in Couch to 5K challenges, yoga sessions, local charity runs and women's rugby.
