Mortgage offer extensions: Following government advice on house purchases, we understand that you may need to extend your mortgage offer.
If you’ve got less than a month before your offer expires and you need an extension, please contact us. We can offer up to a 3 month extension depending on your individual circumstances.
Financial & mental wellbeing: It’s understandable at this time, that lots of us will have real concerns around Coronavirus and the impact it’s having.
People will naturally be worried, worried about catching the virus, worried about family and friends and for most, specifically worried about the financial impact on themselves, their families and if applicable, their businesses - to the point they may be looking for some additional support.
For us, one of our main priorities is to support our customers facing financial difficulties, providing guidance and support in a practical and proactive way.

Branch reopenings: We're pleased to announce that a further seven of our branches will reopen for one day a week, beginning Monday 4 May:
Business Current Account charges: The Cumberland is providing additional support to Business Current Account customers by delaying or waiving account charges.
Business Current Account customers will have their monthly and transactional fees from the first quarter of 2020 (January to March) deferred for 3 months, and monthly fees for the second quarter of 2020 (April to June) will be waived, although transactional fees will stand.
Business Current Account customers have been contacted to outline these changes, and customers do not need to get in touch for them to take effect.
Branch opening hours: We will be reopening a further six branches for one day a week, as our staffing availability continues to improve. Opening hours at five more of our branches will also be increased.

Overdrafts: Following guidance from the Financial Conduct Authority and in order to support our customers during the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have reduced personal current account overdraft rates to 0%.
If you have an arranged or unarranged overdraft, you will not pay any interest on the amount you are overdrawn from 9th April 2020 to 8th July 2020. Find out more →
Mortgage payment holidays: We’ve made it even easier for you to apply for a mortgage payment holiday. No need to call us or visit a branch, simply complete our online form and we'll process your request as soon as possible. If we need to contact you regarding the form we will do so. We will confirm the payment holiday to you in writing.
Easter opening hours: All branches will be closed for the Easter holidays on Good Friday (10 April) and Easter Monday (13 April). We are open on Saturday (11 April) 9am-12noon.
Our Customer Care team will be available on Saturday between 8.30am and 4pm.
Fraud protection advice: We've updated our fraud protection page with additional information and some examples of coronavirus-related scams to watch out for. Criminals use exceptional circumstances such as the current COVID-19 situation as an opportunity to target people for fraud scams. Overdraft update: We are reviewing our personal current account charges in order to provide additional support to customers in financial difficulty as a result of COVID-19. We will publish an update on these measures on our website as soon as we can, as well as what you need to do to be able to benefit, and who will be eligible.
Branch opening times: We have temporarily changed the opening hours of our branches in order to continue to support and serve our customers, whilst maintaining the safety of our colleagues.

Contactless payments update: The contactless card payment has been increased to £45 from today to make paying for goods more hygienic amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
The ‘tap and go’ limit is currently £30 but after increases in other parts of Europe as part of measures to stop the spread of the virus, the change has been introduced in the UK.
Not all card machines will have the latest limit this week as the software needs to be updated to accept the higher payment and the process will happen gradually.
Mortgage product changes: As a result of the UK government‘s ‘stay at home’ advice regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we have temporarily restricted new mortgage applications for residential purchase and remortgages to up to 60% loan to value (LTV) and commercial purchase and remortgages to up to 60% LTV in our operating area, and 50% LTV elsewhere. Brampton branch: Our Brampton branch has reopened today, following a refurbishment. Please note that the branch is busy, and are we are maintaining social distancing measures. There might be a short wait to get into the branch, so please bear with us.
Webchat service: Our webchat team can now help you with a wide range of enquiries, including mortgage payment holiday requests, account balances, changing regular payments, replacing your card or PIN, and other general queries.
Opening hours: We have made a slight change to our Saturday opening hours in branches, temporarily. Our Saturday hours will be 9am - 12noon, from 28 March.
Brampton branch: The reopening of our refurbished Brampton branch has been delayed until Monday 30 March.

Additional social distancing: Please only visit a branch if it is absolutely necessary. If you do need to visit, please respect the 2 metre distancing requirements in place. Please note, in busy periods this may mean we need to limit the number of customers that enter the branch.
