Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In order to protect our colleagues and continue to serve our customers as well as we can in the current circumstances, we have temporarily centralised some branch services into one of our regional hub branches.

All available colleagues have been relocated and we have also implemented additional social distancing measures for the safety of both our customers and colleagues. These actions will help us to limit face-to-face interactions and ensure we have enough healthy colleagues to allow us to provide a continued service over the coming weeks and months.

The affected branches are Ambleside, Appleby, Aspatria, Cleator Moor*, Dalston, Egremont*, Gretna*, Haltwhistle, Keswick*, Langholm, Lockerbie, Longtown, Maryport*, Preston, Silloth, Ulverston, Windermere, Workington (Murray Road), Carlisle (Denton Street)*.

*ATMs at these branches will also be out of service.

Our regional hubs are in Annan, Barrow, Brampton, Cockermouth, Dumfries, Kendal, Lancaster, Penrith, Whitehaven, Workington (Pow Street), Wigton, Carlisle (Fisher Street, Kingstown Road and Rosehill).

Current account customers can continue to use Internet and Mobile Banking. For all other queries, please contact your nearest alternative branch.

  • Why are you centralising your branch services?

    We are protecting the health and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues, and also trying to ensure we can continue to serve our customers as well as possible under challenging circumstances. In response to the latest advice of the government, NHS and Public Health England, many of our colleagues will remain at home as a precautionary measure as they may fall within the ‘at risk’ category, are self-isolating or caring for family members. This has impacted our colleague availability. Therefore, in order to maintain a branch service we have temporarily relocated some of our smaller branch services into a number of hub branches around the region.

  • Which branches does this affect?

    The temporary service centralisation will impact the following branches:

  • Will all the branches be affected?

    We’ve taken this action as a temporary measure, due to a significantly reduced workforce, which is a result of the current coronavirus situation and is done so explicitly to protect our colleagues and to be able to continue to serve our customers.

    We will look to the government, Public Health England and NHS for guidance as the days and weeks progress and hope to resume a normal, full branch network as soon as possible.

  • What do I do now?

    Where possible, please use your nearest alternative branch. Customers will be required to travel to this branch for urgent transactions. You can find your nearest branch here.

    Alternatively, current account customers can manage their account(s) 24/7 online and via our mobile app. If it isn’t possible to visit your alternative branch, we would advise customers to call their alternative branch for support in this instance.

  • When will branches reopen?

    At this point we cannot confirm how long this temporary service centralisation will remain in place. Please do be assured these closures are temporary. We hope to have all branches open again as soon as possible.
