Contents Insurance

Choose the amount of contents cover you need - either £40,000, £45,000 or £50,000 - for household goods and personal possessions in your home. This covers the cost of damage or loss of your belongings by such things as fire, flood and theft.

Additional Accidental Damage

'Your House Insurance' includes automatic cover for accidental damage to the TV, stereo equipment, computers in the home, mirrors and glass in furniture. This cover can be extended to include accidental damage to other house contents, such as ornaments, crockery and so on.

Personal belongings - at home and outside

Choose the amount of Personal Belongings cover you need - either £2,000, £3,000, £4,000 or £5,000 - for possessions you are likely to take out of your home, and even while travelling abroad. If no individual article exceeds £1,500 in value you will be covered for a wide range of personal belongings with no need to describe them in detail. If any items are worth more than £1,500 they will need to be specifically noted so that they can be included in 'Your House Insurance' policy.

Buildings Insurance

Norwich Union offers a discounted rate for people who combine their home contents policy with a policy that covers the home itself.  The Buildings option covers the cost of damage to the home, garage, greenhouse, swimming pool, patios and drives, caused by dangers such as fire, flood, and subsidence.

This cover includes accidental damage to the structure of the house, for example putting a foot through the ceiling when in the loft.

There is a premium discount for people whose buildings insurance has been claim-free for three years or more.
