Cumberland Building Society is the new sponsor of Brunton Park’s A-stand, which has been re-named the Cumberland Community Stand. The sponsorship commences prior to the new 2009/10 season, which starts on 8 August, and will run for the next three years.
The sponsorship also sees Cumbria’s largest building society take over the Schools and Community Programme which provides local primary schools and community groups with free tickets for home football matches during the season.
John Nixon, director at Brunton Park, said: “We would like to formally thank the Cumberland Building Society for their continuing support for the club and we are delighted that they have chosen to sponsor the Community Stand and the Schools and Community Programme. The Cumberland is a successful and respected local brand that has supported the club for many years. We are proud to further consolidate our partnership with this new agreement and look forward to enjoying many successful years ahead.”

Chris McDonald, assistant general manager at the Cumberland, added: “We are pleased to be extending our support for the club with this new sponsorship deal, which will allow both ourselves and the club to strengthen our relationships with the local community. By sponsoring the Schools and Community Programme, we are able to provide hundreds of free tickets to local primary schools and community groups in the area and help the club to develop its next generation of fans.”
Blues fans can also support the club with a savings account from the Cumberland. This donates 1% of the total average balance to the club, as well as offering a range of other benefits including a discount in the club shop and a free prize draw for young savers to be mascots at future home games.
Tickets for Carlisle United home games continue to be available from the Cumberland’s Fisher Street branch in Carlisle.
